Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card (See rates and fees)

This is the premium Southwest Airlines co-brand card really designed for folks who fly Southwest — it makes Southwest travel better, and spending helps earn both A-List status and a Companion Pass. What’s key here though is the elevated offer right now to earn 85,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

This offer ends at these links at 9 a.m. Eastern on 12/16/2025 .

  • You need 135,000 Qualifying Points in a calendar year to earn a Companion Pass (or to fly 100 qualifying one-way flights).
  • Having the card gives you 15,000 qualifying points, so you need 120,000 more.
  • These 85,000 bonus points count. Plus spending $3,000 in earning the bonus counts as well. So that’s 88,000. That leaves just 32,000 more.
  • Earning the companion pass early in 2026 is ideal, because it lasts for the entire rest of the calendar year in which it is earned, plus the next calendar year.

More spending on the card counts. Southwest hotel bookings count. Flights earn qualifying points, too. And the ability to bring a companion with you for the cost of taxes – whether you’re traveling on a revenue ticket or award, as long as there’s a seat available on the flight for sale – remains the best deal in travel.

Benefits of this $229 annual fee card include first checked bag free for cardmembers and up to 8 additional passengers in the same reservation; ability to select a Preferred seat at booking, at no additional charge, when available; Group 5 boarding for cardmembers and up to 8 passengers in the same reservation.
